Our Trip To Asheville

February 1, 2008
So we don't get much time for vacations but we finally got a little time off so we decided to head to my favorite state (besides NY) North Carolina!!! The first night we arrived it got down to 22 degrees! It was crazy- but Brittany and I looove the cold weather. The boys, on the other hand, feel quite differently. But they stuck it out for us, and we ended up having a blast. We visited the Biltmore (which is where Clint and I originally planned to get married- but they didn't offer a package appropriate for our small intimate wedding).

We also visited Chimney Rock- this super duper high rock that has an AMAZING view, but due to my fear of hights, I never got too close to the edge hehe. There was a path going down the mountain that had all different twists and turns, and for sure one of the most exciting yet scary parts of that was the "Needle's Eye", this incredibly steep staircase sandwiched in between the rock!

Then we took the path down from the top to the trail leading to the big waterfall (which was what I wanted to see). We had no idea, however, that the trail which had no guardrail and wound around the side of the mountain would be iced over. Needless to say it took us a while to reach the beautiful, but FROZEN waterfall! It was quite a work out but it was so much fun and so beautiful up there!

One night we just went and walked around downtown Asheville- it's such a neat place. We found a gorgeous little church and the bells were ringing as we walked past.

If you know us at all, you know we are all very silly (even shy Clint can be pretty goofy!!). So one day we decided to use the day to drive down the "Blue Ridge Parkway" to see the beautiful scenery. We came across this hill of snow, and since we had nothing to slide down on- we just went for it! The next photos show the goofiness that followed!

We also took a little road trip out to some really cool caverns (even if they were a bit tourist trappy!)- we got very close to some adorable little bats!

We had such a wonderful time (as we always do with Britt and Jared) and we can't wait until we get time to go on another one (maybe Colorado next year?!) The following photos are of Britt and Jared cuddling up in the comfy backseat as we left N.C. and the beautiful sunrise on our way out of the mountains and on our way home.

If you are looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to vacation we would definitely recommend Asheville, N.C.
